I've designed and facilitated conferences on a wide range of subjects over the last thirty years. I create Conferences That Work—small, participant-driven, participation-rich conferences that adapt to attendees' needs, and that include opportunities for personal and group reflection, and development.

My book Conferences That Work: Creating Events That People Love was published in November 2009.

I am a former elementary particle physicist, information technology consultant, professor of computer science, and co-owner of a solar manufacturing company. I live with my wife Celia in Marlboro, Vermont, am active in the non-profit world, and love to sing and dance.

"Please read my correction on the original thread (hotel gave me slightly incorrect information). CALL at 38th Street, get off the train at the Metrodome."

"IMPORTANT CORRECTION! The hotel gave me incorrect information about the stop to detrain in Minneapolis. What they should have told me is to CALL them when you get to 38th Street and detrain at the METRODOME stop. But there's ultimately no problem if you followed my 1st directions; just call the the hotel, get back on the next train and detrain at Metrodome."

"I want to go public—I am one of the "private" messagers Sam mentioned. I sent him an old-fashioned email, offering support and some ideas. But I am not ashamed of my involvement with Event Camp Twin Cities; I revel in it, I adore it, I am fulfilled by it. Is that clear? Also, Ray has been suggesting that "Mahna Mahna" could be the #ectc11 theme song. Not a bad choi..."

"Karaoke Report. It's a bit of a blur, but I'm happy to report that at least 10 EventCampers whooped it up at the Vegas Lounge 'til past midnight. I remember Lindsey, Brandt, Jenise, Deb, Glenn, Greg, Mike & Kevin (from Skyline) & Bob. Jenise, who takes her Karaoke very seriously, was impressed by the whole setup. And my goodness we were good! You should have been there! ..."
